The full story

We worked with Bible Society to produce the latest edition of The Bible Course, a major film-led learning series designed to help people explore the story of the Bible in a clear, engaging and accessible way.

This was a long-term project, 18 months in the making, and one that pushed both the creative and technical side of our filmmaking. The brief was ambitious - to create a visually rich course that could support teaching and discussion, while feeling cinematic, modern and immersive rather than instructional.

To bring the course to life, we combined virtual production using Unreal Engine, augmented reality, 2D and 3D animation, along with more traditional on-location filming all across the UK. Virtual environments allowed us to build worlds and moments that would be impossible or impractical to capture traditionally, while animation helped simplify complex ideas and stories in a way that felt intuitive and engaging. Alongside this, we filmed on stunning locations (sometimes in challenging conditions!), capturing real atmosphere and texture, even when the weather had other plans.

The filmmaking approach was designed to support learning through storytelling. Rather than relying on static visuals or talking heads alone, the course uses movement, space and visual metaphor to draw viewers in and help ideas land emotionally as well as intellectually. The result is a series that feels considered, cinematic and alive, while remaining clear and accessible for a wide audience.

For us, The Bible Course was an opportunity to dive deep into some of the most exciting tools in modern production, using cutting-edge technology in service of telling a big story. It’s a project we’re hugely proud of, and a great example of how craft, innovation and collaboration can come together to support education and reflection in a fresh way.
